Acer Palmatum ‘Ukigumo’

This striking Acer has been given the poetic name ‘Floating Cloud Maple’ due to its unusual, variegated foliage. Each leaf bears a unique pattern of pale green sprinkles against a cream background with a blush of pink spreading from the tips. Some leaves emerge completely cream whilst others are more speckled and their colours evolve during the growing season. The overall effect is stunning – forming a tree with a pale, floaty appearance – it’s especially striking set against a background of darker foliage. In autumn, the foliage develops rich yellow-orange tones before falling to unveil an elegant tracery of fine, tiered branches. Acers are slow growing and make ideal specimens for small gardens and containers where they provide multiple seasons of interest. Height and Spread: 250cm (98in).
